There are a lot of people who are willing to build a carrier out of it. You need to be tough to be a telemarketer. Because it is cold calling and people are not expecting your calls. And in most cases your calls are not appreciated by them and you have to be mentally prepared to deal with a lot of rejections. Telemarketing is all about numbers. At the end of the day, you need to make sales and when you do that, people won’t care how you made them. But if you do not make sales, your potential will be questioned.

You might think that, you will get more sales if you make more calls. But you do not have to wait for sale. You will have to make sales. Use the basic tips below and convert a not so interested customer into a sale and be a successful telemarketer.

Be prepared and do your home work properly. Before you go live and start calling you need to know as much as possible about the product that you are trying to sale, the company you are representing and the probable questions that you are likely to be asked.

It is very important to make a good first impression. You need to be energized, enthusiastic and lively when you are on calls. You have to be friendly and polite and read the customers mind. If you fail to do that, the customer will probably hang up on your face. So develop a conversation and lead the customer to where you want them. Start with a lively greeting, not too animated but friendly. The way you talk to a nice person you know personally. Always wear a smile on your face as that affects your voice.

Telemarketing gives you the chance to make the dealings more personal and you need to use this to the fullest extent. Personalize your script. Do not just call and start terrifying the customers with all your product knowledge. Ask them how are they. Ask about their family and children.  Make a bond with the customer. Ask them their needs as a friend and solve their issues with your product. Even if you do not get a sale out of that customer, a good conversation will inspire you to be nice to the next customer you get and that is very important.

Make your resume an outstanding one. Look for the resumes of reputed executives. You will find some online. Make sure your resume communicate properly and let your employer know everything that they want to know. Drop your resume along with a good cover letter.
Make your resume with the latest information. Do not just paint the old one. Make a new one adding all the new qualification that you have earned and make sure the resume is not old fashioned.

The resume should be made precisely for different jobs. You might have a single qualification which would serve different purposes to different companies. Present your qualification in a way that would be relevant for the particular company you are applying in.

Get well networked. Make sure that you join linked in and facebook. And start communicating with relevant people. Involve yourself with some real life groups like toastmasters and other industrial people which might help you to get the exposure in the job industry.

Let your references know that you are looking for a job and convince them that you have developed skills and become more efficient.

Keep yourself fit and ready to go for an interview. Along with the interview questions keep the clothes ready that you want to wear while going for an interview. Have the hard copy of your cv and all the documents ready for the interview.

When you are called for an interview stay assured that a couple of questions are there that you might expect to be asked. These questions are important because a good interviewer would try and explore your inner self with the help of these questions. So it will give you an upper hand over the interviewer if you can prepare yourself for those questions and answer them exactly how you want to answer them.

To start with prepare yourself for the part called elevator speech. You will have to describe how you can add value to the company and you will have to do it within 30 seconds. So you might want to practice it before going to the interview.

You should also try and gain some knowledge about the company. Just visit their site and find out more about them. And be clear about the post that you have applied for. Make sure you present yourself as a compassionate person and interested in a carrier in the company. Remember to represent your skills in a way that can be useful for the company. Questions inquiring your hobbies, your skills as a team player or a problem solver, your mind frame and your experience will be asked. Ensure that every question should be answered from the view that serves a purpose of the company. Try to relate your skills and even your hobbies to the company’s requirement.

Some of the obvious questions that you might expect to be asked are:

Tell me something about you: while answering this question be very careful to be relevant. Do not get carried away and start telling your life story. Though, you might highlight an event of your life that taught you skills helpful for the job.

Do you think this industry will hold the same interest for you in the coming years and why: make them believe that you are very passionate to work on this field and it has been a long cherished dream of yours. You will stick to this sector as it is dynamic and you can always come up with new ideas and thus keep your interest alive in it.

How can you be sure that you will like the job: give them the idea that though you have not work with this company before you have done a bit of research on how the company works and you like the way it works. Tell them you have also consulted people who have had a chance to work here. And you are sure that this company will provide you with a chance to flourish as an individual and take your skills to the next level.

What is your biggest weakness: never say that you have none. Admit to them that you might be a little perfectionist. Or it is hard for you to accept failures. And tell them that with the experience of working in your company I will try my best to overcome the weakness.

Why would you leave the position you are in: never look down upon your previous job. Tell them that was great and you enjoyed it. But you think the new job will be even better and more challenging.

Make sure that you answer all the questions pleasantly and boldly. Admit if you are unable to answer any questions. Be precise and confident and wait for your appointment letter.
